3D Printing
Rapid Prototyping for Perfect-Fit Protection
Zippertubing® utilizes in-house 3D printing to support the development of custom EMI shielding, thermal shielding, and protective jacketing solutions. As part of our expanding rapid prototyping capabilities, this ability allows us to recreate your exact fixture, component, or hardware using 3D modeling technology - enabling us to engineer a cover that conforms precisely to your part geometry.
How It Works
When you supply a 3D model or physical sample of your part, our team will:
- Digitally recreate or scan your part in-house (as needed)
- 3D print a full-scale replica for evaluation and testing
- Use the printed model to design and fabricate a shielding or protection solution that fits with optimal accuracy
This hands-on approach eliminates guesswork, streamlines the design iteration process, and accelerates development timelines.
Zippertubing’s in-house engineering team is ready to work closely with your designers and production staff to ensure that the finished solution aligns with your environmental, electrical, and mechanical performance requirements.

Benefits of Our 3D Printing Integration
- Exact Fit: Every shield or cover is tailored to the actual contours and clearances of your component.
- Faster Prototyping: Reduce lead times and eliminate multiple trial-and-error cycles.
- Cost-Effective Iteration: Validate form, fit, and function before committing to production.
- Complex Geometries: Design around non-standard shapes, integrated mounting hardware, or tight spatial constraints.
Applications
Whether you're shielding a compact sensor, encasing a high-temperature fitting, or bundling cables around a complex assembly, 3D printed modeling allows our engineering team to deliver truly custom protection - built specifically for your application.
This capability is ideal for:
- EMI shielding enclosures with irregular form factors
- Heat shields requiring close proximity to heat sources
- Covers for non-standard hardware and cable assemblies
