Job Description

The Manufacturing Operations Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operations of the, Purchasing, Maintenance and Production departments in accordance with company policies and procedures, budgets, schedules, federal and state standards, guidelines and regulations. The Operations Manager directs and motivates these departments through a team of subordinate managers and supervisors; managing the activities of the shop floor to ensure optimized production of high quality product with on time delivery while adhering to ISO/TS 16949 standards.

This manager is also responsible for the performance, condition, and reliability of all mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations. Responsible for ensuring compliance with company standards, coordinating with other departmental heads to ensure finished products meet all standards. This is accomplished through planning, scheduling, and coordinating departmental activities in the areas of lean manufacturing, quality, cost reduction, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, plant performance measures and market growth.

The position ensures increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials and machines. It is the responsibility of the Operations Manager to maintain safe working conditions and practices in the production department and assure that all staff attends required training in hazardous communication and safety.
The Manufacturing Operations Manager assists with the development of the annual and 5 year budget as it pertains to, Purchasing, Maintenance and Production.

Responsibilities;

  • Directs, develops and motivates their team; Purchasing, Maintenance and Production departments in the fulfillment of project assignments, within budget and on schedule.
  • Manages the activities of production to ensure the optimized production of a high quality, cost effective product with on time delivery.
  • Oversees the selection and procurement of manufacturing raw materials including the negotiations with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure best costs for goods and services.
  • Assures that all Department staff attends required training in hazardous communication and safety as established by OSHA guidelines to insure safe working conditions and practices
  • Assure adherence to ISO/TS 16949 standards.
  • Ensures the performance, condition, and reliability of all mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  • Participates in formulating and administering company policies, directing and coordinating all department activities to develop and implement long-range goals and objectives to meet business and profitability growth objectives.
  • Supports and collaborates with other departmental heads to ensure finished products meet all standards in quality, customer requirements, safety and market growth.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate departmental activities in the areas of lean manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, and plant performance measures.
  • Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery.
  • Manages compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Assists with the development of the annual and 5 year budget as it pertains to Quality, Purchasing and Production.
  • Requires a hands-on individual that will work both on the production floor and in an office environment. Individual must possess the ability to bend, stoop, lift, climb stairs and work in a sometimes loud open air-conditioned warehouse type facility.

Qualifications:

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced, dynamic environment with a high level of interruptions and priority changes.
  • Organizational and Project management skills to handle manufacturing process to ensure timely and cost-effective production.
  • Strong problem-solving techniques and statistical analysis skills
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, skilled in operating and examining production equipment for faults.
  • Broad supply chain knowledge and experience
  • Familiar with high-volume production with extremely high quality standards
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of leadership experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and shop floor management, warehouse management systems.
